I have worked with countless office managers and executives who keep track of things by making list after list,  scribbling on scraps of paper and shoving them in their pockets, or making  to-do-lists in the margins of important documents. At meetings they start pulling out notes or reference the backs of file folders, post-its and even  envelopes.  How often I have heard  them exclaim, "I know I wrote it down somewhere!"
The system I use is the Master Journal,  kept in a spiral bound notebook. You can keep this list on your electronic  devices but, I find that the notebook is always handy and can then be used to transfer your lists of things to do, contact information and other details to your calendar or smart phone whenever convenient. 
You can make a great business journal that can be used to look back on any information jotted down during meetings and details of phone conversations. Small, but important details that may escape your memory today but can easily be confirmed by thumbing back through these pages. 

* Mark important items with an asterisk or draw a border around  them. It will make them easier to find weeks or  months later.
* Write the date at the top of each page.
* Regularly transfer to-do-lists onto your calendar. This also goes for contact information that should be keyed into your phone and/or computer.                                                                                                           
 * Get in the habit of writing down details: addresses and phone numbers; product numbers and descriptions; delivery dates; and who said what, when and where. 

The beauty of this system is, if you did not get around to transferring or further organizing your information you will still be able to find it by referring back to the Master Journal.
